How Enshrouded character builds are structured
Enshrouded uses an expanded version of the classic fighter, rogue, and wizard class triumvirate as the basis for character builds. The three plans below follow that framework: a red fighter-line Barbarian, a magic Battlemage, and a Warrior/Tank melee setup.
The Barbarian plan requires 56 skill points, and the tank plan recommends at least 50 skill points to make the setup shine, though reaching its core does not require the game’s max level. The Fireball Battlemage plan is described as designed for early progression rather than tied to a stated point total.
Two-handed Barbarian: skills, points, and playstyle
The Barbarian path sits in the red fighter skill line and suits players who want a big weapon and big damage. The branch focuses on Overpowering enemies and chaining kills to raise damage output, and it specializes in heavy two-handed weapons that break enemy stance and sweep through targets.
The plan mainly uses Barbarian skills plus a few must-haves from the Survivor tree, while other branches stay freely available. Blood Rage and Breach are the main damage steroids; the remaining skills help Overpower enemies faster and add quality-of-life benefits such as weapon durability, Stamina recovery, and healing.
- Plan for 56 skill points, and unlock skills in descending order of the guide’s list for efficiency.
- Take Endurance, Runner, and Double Jump from the Survivor path, plus Merciless Attack from the Core path.
- Invest in the Barbarian skills: Crash Down Attack, Steadfast, Heavy Handed, Strength, Constitution, Breach, Heavy Specialization, Barbarian, Blood Rage, Shockwave, Bash, Vigorous Deflection, and Blood Warrior.
- Add survivability options such as Battle Heal from the Tank path, which heals 5% of max health on melee critical strikes.
- Consider Upwards Slash Attack for flying enemies, Inner Fires and Relentless Flame to extend the Shroud timer, Dessert Stomach for an extra food slot, and Updraft for extra glide altitude.
Barbarian gear and food-adjacent support
For armor, get the Rising Fighter set as soon as it unlocks at the Blacksmith for crit chance, melee damage, health, and health regeneration. The Guard of the North set, found across Pikemead’s Reach, is a stronger upgrade but significantly reduces time spent in Shrouded areas. Eventually the Radiant Paladin legendary set in the Sun Temple in the far southeastern region is the target.
For weapons, stick with two-handed melee weapons and choose hammers or axes so you concentrate on one damage type, Blunt or Cutting. A ranged weapon can add utility: bows with special arrows, or a staff with an eternal spell if mana allows.
1.0 Fireball Battlemage: wand and staff skills
The Fireball Battlemage combines steady wand damage with Fireball casts from a staff and is designed for early progression, using mobility, crowd control, and healing on kills while switching weapons.
Wand Mastery raises wand damage per skill level, and Sting rewards continued wand attacks between Fireball casts. Wand Specialization unlocks the wand’s special ability: build Focus by attacking, then pull nearby ordinary enemies together and damage them. Focus and mana are separate resources, so building the special ability does not refill spellcasting mana.
Blink replaces the dodge roll with a short teleport. Intelligence raises magic damage for both the wand and Fireball and improves Life Burst healing. Life Burst triggers when an enemy dies to a magic weapon and heals players within 15 meters, scaling with Intelligence. Unity gives damaging wand hits a chance to restore mana.
- Use a wand for regular attacks and a staff for Fireball.
- Build Focus with wand hits, then spend it on the wand special ability to group and damage ordinary enemies.
- Cast Fireball when you have enough mana and a safe opening; there is no need to wait for a full Focus bar.
- Check mana and charges before a longer encounter, since ordinary Fireball casts consume both.
Battlemage gear priorities
Look for a fire wand with Multishot, which adds an extra projectile to supported wand attacks, then consider additional damage bonuses. Gem of Burning is an optional addition that applies burning when you deal fire damage. Pair the wand with a shield so you can block or parry when enemies close in.
Useful equipment bonuses include Intelligence, wand damage, fire damage, mana regeneration, health or Constitution, and relevant skill ranks. If you die before you can reposition, improve protection and health before adding more damage. Ordinary wand attacks cost no mana, but mana recovery from those hits depends on effects such as Unity.
Warrior/Tank sword-and-shield build
The tank setup uses major and minor nodes in the Warrior and Tank skill lines, with a few points in green branches mainly to reach Double Jump. Thick Skin and Battle Heal are its two most important parts: Thick Skin grants 1 Constitution for every 2 levels of Flame, and Battle Heal restores 5% of maximum health after a melee critical strike.
The original plan focuses on directly attacking enemies for damage and sustaining health through lifesteal. Merciless Strike and Opportunity skew it toward parrying and overpowering enemies to trigger Merciless Strike.
- Aim for at least 50 skill points to make the setup shine.
- Take Warrior nodes such as The Warrior’s Path for 10% more melee weapon damage, Slasher and Butcher for Cutting damage, Veteran for 10% melee crit chance, and Swift Blades for faster one-handed attacks.
- Add defensive nodes: Shiny Plates for 10% more Physical mitigation from armor, Tower for 10% less Physical damage when surrounded by three or more enemies, and Earth Aura to reduce damage taken by players within 10 meters by 10%.
- Pick up Thick Skin, Evasion Attack, and Battle Heal in the Tank line.
- Spend spare points on Well-Rested and Inner Fires for Rested buff and Shroud timer increases, and consider Dessert Stomach in the Survivor tree.
- Optionally experiment with Merciless Strike, a power attack against an overpowered enemy, and Opportunity, which adds 100% to the damage multiplier of Merciless Strike and Sneak Attack.
Tank gear and food
The plan recommends Radiant Paladin or Soldier armor, any sword with high Cutting damage and critical hit chance, any shield with strong defense or parry power, and two Commander Rings. One-handed swords are preferred because they are effective against most enemies and mostly deal Cutting damage boosted by Slasher and Butcher; if you use another one-handed type, respec into the matching Blunt or Piercing passives.
For food, choose options that grant Constitution, melee damage, and other melee-friendly effects. Listed examples include Open Sandwich (+4 Strength, +2 Constitution), Meat Wrap (+5 Constitution, +1 Intelligence), Flat Bread (+4 Strength), Fruit Bowl (+6 Health Regeneration, +3 Stamina Recharge), and Sugar (+20 Stamina Recharge).
Combat balancing context
The Melodies of the Mire update brought combat balancing changes, including major improvements to melee playstyles and making two-handed weapons much more viable in the late game. Parrying also became a more effective and rewarding tactic after buffs to shield parrying power and core skills that take advantage of stunned opponents. These notes describe the state of the game at that update and may not reflect later balancing.
